Janet McClelland
I qualified from Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh in 1983 with a diploma in Physiotherapy & merit in the practical exam. I subsequently worked in Dundee, Falkirk & Stirling ending up specialising in Medical and Care of the Elderly.
After leaving the NHS I gained my exercise to music qualification and became a Fully Certified Physiotherapy and Pilates teacher with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute in 2010.
Since then I have built up my classes and practice in Dunblane. I now have classes throughout the Stirling area and use Pilates to treat clients on an individual level. The HPC Audited me in April 2012 and found me fully competent in all areas. I was also formerly the pilates teacher at Gleneagles.
Due to my Physiotherapy background I am able to adapt my treatment and classes to suit the majority of clients. Other fitness Pilates classes do not have my anatomical and physiotherapy background and may not be able to set the level of exercises appropriate to each client.
What makes my classes unique and different from many others is my certified professional expertise. The class sizes are limited to 12 to enable me to correct and adapt individuals where necessary.
I have also continued to increase my knowledge by attending the following courses:-
Pilates and the theraband
Pilates and the ball
Anti/postnatal Pilates
3D standing
Postural Stability Course
Pilates for cyclists and runners
I recently attended a conference at The Royal College of Physicians in London where I attended lectures and practical sessions to widen my knowledge.
The Postural Stability Course allows me to work with the elderly to prevent falls and improve balance and strengthening.
