Pilates is a system of controlled exercises that concentrate on using the deep core muscles to stabilise the spine and pelvis to allow free movement of the limbs. It is a mind and body exercise system that makes you ‘mindful’ of your body.  As a result of this it is also excellent for mental health conditions.

Modified Pilates is the same system of exercises, adapted by Physiotherapists, to prevent injuries and to allow rehabilitation of existing conditions.

Modified Pilates can be used to treat a wide range of joint & muscle problems regardless of existing levels of fitness. It is founded on evidenced based research which supports the theory of using deep core muscles to stabilise the spine. A core muscle is any muscle that is attached to the spine and so directly affects it.
